Thank you all for such a warm and heartfelt welcome to the school community. From the moment I arrived, I have been met with friendly faces, kind words, and genuine support from students, staff, and families alike. It has been wonderful getting to know everyone this week. One of the highlights has been visiting classrooms and seeing learning in action—students engaged, curious, and supported by dedicated teachers. It truly speaks volumes about the strength, inclusiveness, and learning culture of our school community.
Celebrating the First 100 Days of Prep
The first 100 days of Prep are important, and we’re so excited to celebrate this milestone with our students, staff, and families this week! These 100 days might seem like just a number, but they represent so much more—they’re a time of growth, learning, and fun that we all get to share.
For our students, the first 100 days are all about settling into school life and discovering new things every day. It’s when they start learning to read, write, make friends, and get into the school routine. Every little achievement—whether it’s learning a new sound, forming letters, or just making a new friend—counts, and they’re building the foundation for the years ahead.
For our staff, the first 100 days are a time to reflect on how much our students have learned and how far they’ve come. It’s amazing to see the progress they’ve made, and we love being part of this exciting journey. These first few months help us connect with students, understand what they need, and figure out the best ways to support each one.
And for parents, the first 100 days are a huge achievement too! We know that starting school can be a big adjustment, and it’s been wonderful to see families supporting their kids through this new chapter. Whether it’s packing lunches, helping with homework, or just getting everyone to school on time, it’s a team effort, and we appreciate everything you’ve done to help your child feel comfortable and confident.
So, let’s celebrate! The first 100 days are just the beginning of an exciting year of learning and growing together. We’re so proud of our Prep students and all they’ve accomplished so far, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store!
Attendance Matters
This Friday, we will be recognising students who had exceptional attendance last term. Every day of learning counts, and we want to sincerely thank all families who are supporting consistent attendance and ensuring students arrive on time for the 8:45am start. We know cold mornings can be tough, but students who arrive on time are noticeably more settled, ready to learn and better able to follow school routines.
Late arrivals or early pick-ups, even by just 15 minutes a day, can result in your child missing over an hour of learning each week. If you’re experiencing challenges getting your child to school on time, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher. We’re here to support you.
2025 NAPLAN Results
A huge congratulations to our Year 3 and 5 students on their 2025 NAPLAN results! All parents and carers of students in those year levels will receive their child’s report within the next week. NAPLAN is a snapshot of learning at a particular point in time, and it helps us understand both individual and year level learning needs. Alongside other data sets, it assists our staff in tailoring teaching to best support every student. Once you receive your report, if you have questions about your child’s results, please speak with their class teacher.
Prep Enrolments for 2026
Prep enrolments for next year are filling fast! If you have a child who will be starting Prep in 2026, please make sure to submit your enrolment as soon as possible. We will be offering a range of transition opportunities over the next six months to help our new students (and their families) feel confident and prepared for the school year ahead. We will be holding our annual Prep Open Morning on Saturday August 2nd between 10 and 11:30 am. If you have a prep student starting with us next year and you would like to attend this event or our next Principal’s tour on Wednesday the 13th of August, please register with the office. Enrolment information is also available through the school office.
Supporting Learning by Keeping Toys at Home
We are asking all families to please ensure that toys from home are not brought to school, particularly highly valued items such as Labubu and Lafufu toys. These toys are very special to our students, and when they go missing or get damaged, it causes significant distress. Unfortunately, despite best efforts, we cannot guarantee the safety of personal items at school, and we are unable to take responsibility for lost or broken toys.
To prevent disruptions to learning and avoid upset among students, we need your support in keeping all toys at home. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a focused and supportive learning environment for all students.
Setting Boundaries with Technology to Support Learning
As we know, technology is an integral part of our lives—both in and outside of the classroom. While it can be an amazing tool for learning, it is important to set clear boundaries to ensure it doesn’t interfere with our children’s education and well-being. At school, we use technology to enhance learning, but we also encourage time away from screens to focus on hands-on activities, face-to-face interactions, and outdoor play. This balance is key to supporting your child’s growth and development.
Here are a few simple tips to help set healthy boundaries:
- Set Screen-Free Times: Establish specific times at home where technology is put away, such as during meals or before bedtime. This encourages quality family time and ensures that children get plenty of rest, which is vital for learning.
- Limit Recreational Screen Time: While it’s tempting to use devices for entertainment, too much screen time can affect attention, sleep, and overall well-being. Try to limit recreational screen time to a set amount each day, ensuring there’s still plenty of time for other activities like reading, playing outside, or creative play.
- Create a Tech-Free Learning Space: If possible, designate an area in your home for schoolwork or reading that’s free from distractions like TVs or mobile devices. This can help your child stay focused and make the most of their study time.
- Encourage Active Use: When your child is using technology, try to encourage activities that are educational or interactive, rather than passive consumption of entertainment.
We know it’s not always easy to manage screen time, especially with the demands of daily life, but these small steps can make a big difference in how well our students focus, engage, and learn. By setting boundaries around technology, we are not only supporting their academic success but also helping them develop healthier habits for the future.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support. We appreciate the partnership between home and school in helping our students thrive!
Wishing all our families a great week ahead.
