A Celebration of Coombabah – Our School Musical
As I write this, we have completed one incredible night of our school musical, with the grand finale taking place tonight. Last night’s performance was absolutely brilliant and a true celebration of our Coombabah school community.
The musical took us on a heartfelt and humorous journey from Kindy through to Year 6, highlighting the amazing things that happen every day at Coombabah. It also beautifully celebrated the support and care our students receive from both staff and families.
The entire production was put together with such care. The students were phenomenal, remembering countless lines and performing with enthusiasm and confidence. Everything from the song choices to the backdrops and props was so well done, and the script was both funny and meaningful. It was a joy to watch from start to finish.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who made this production possible with special mention to:
Our amazing student cast – Your commitment, energy, and talent were outstanding. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves.
Staff who made cameos – Thank you for stepping out of your comfort zones. Teaching in front of a class is one thing, but performing in front of a large audience is something else entirely. Your courage and good humour added a special touch to the show.
Nina Hoile- Your guidance played a key role in the choir’s success and helped create a truly memorable experience for all.
Allison Cross- Your creativity and hard work with our dancers added so much energy and excitement to the show.
Bek Welsh – Your creativity in designing the most incredible backdrops and props truly brought the show to life. We know you’ve spent many weekends preparing, and your efforts didn’t go unnoticed.
Karen Gore and Lauren McCormack – Your guidance and behind-the-scenes work ensured everything ran smoothly. Much of what you do is unseen, but it was essential to the success of the production.
Kylie Kincaid – Thank you for your vision, your wonderful scriptwriting, and your unwavering dedication to our school community. This show was a testament to your hard work and passion.
To all the volunteers, helpers, staff, and students who gave their time, energy, and support, thank you. It was clear how much effort went into every part of the production. What a joyful and memorable way to celebrate our school!
Last Thursday, we were pleased to welcome three staff members from Elanora State School as part of an Engagement Learning Community visit. These visits are an opportunity for schools to connect, share ideas, and learn from one another—and it was a privilege to showcase what makes Coombabah so special.
Following the visit, we received some wonderful feedback from Elanora’s principal, Stephen O’Brien. Stephen shared that his overall impression of Coombabah was extremely positive. He spoke highly of the warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the school and noted how our bright, vibrant uniforms set a tone of positivity and pride.
He was also impressed with how confidently our students spoke about their learning. Stephen and his team were genuinely impressed by how articulate, open, and friendly our students were in conversation. These interactions reflected not only the strong relationships built within our school but also the high level of student engagement in their learning.
While I’ve truly enjoyed sharing my own highlights since joining the Coombabah community, it’s important to pause and recognise that what we do here does stand out and it’s something visitors notice straight away.
Celebrating Science Success at Griffith University
Last Thursday night, Mrs Allen and I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Griffith University Science Competition Awards, and what a proud moment it was for our school community!
We were thrilled to see five of our talented students recognised for their outstanding science projects, earning top places in a competition that attracts entries from across the region. The excitement on our students' faces as their names were announced was truly heartwarming, and it was equally special to witness the pride and joy on the faces of their families as they cheered them on.
We are proud to congratulate the following students on their incredible achievements:
- Division 1 (Prep) – Lucy : First Place
- Division 2 (Years 1 & 2) – Taylor : First Place
- Division 2 (Years 1 & 2) – Patrick : Second Place
- Division 1 (Prep) – Mateo : Third Place
- Division 4 (Years 5 & 6) – Avery : Second Place
These results speak volumes about the curiosity, creativity, and dedication our students bring to their learning. A heartfelt thank you goes to Mrs Allen for her guidance, encouragement, and support of our students. Her mentorship played a key role in helping them prepare for the competition and shine on the night. Thank you also to our families for your support of your children in entering this competition.
Road Safety Reminders
On Monday, we had a police presence outside the school on Oxley Drive. I would like to take this opportunity to remind all families of a few important road safety rules:
- The bus stop is not a drop-off or pick-up area. Please avoid using this space to drop off students.
- Be mindful of parking signs near the traffic lights. You are permitted to drop off students in this zone, but parking is not allowed between 8:00–9:00am and 2:00–4:00pm.
Let’s continue to work together to keep our students safe during busy pick-up and drop-off times. Your cooperation makes a big difference!
2026 Enrolments
Enrolments are still being accepted for the 2026 school year.
If your child is due to start Prep next year, now is the perfect time to complete their enrolment. Early enrolment ensures you and your child can take part in our transition and preparation activities designed to support a smooth and positive start to school.
For more information or to collect an enrolment pack, please contact the school office.
Wishing you a great week ahead

As we approach the end of term some menu items will be low in stock or unavailable. If an item is ordered that is unavailable we will contact the student to offer an alternative.
Tuckshop will be closed on the last day of term, Friday 19th September for stocktake and cleaning.
Students will need to bring lunch from home on this day.
Thankyou to everyone for your support throughout term 3 and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in term 4.

We hope all the Dad's, Pop's, Grandads, Grandpas and other special family had a great Father's Day on Sunday.
Thank you to our P&C for donating the gift bags to our stall. It was great to see all the thoughtful messages the kids put on their gift bags.
We also ran a little competition for the class with the best decorated bags! With much deliberation our winners are
Junior 1A
Senior 3C
These classes will celebrate their efforts with a bucket of icy poles.
Thank you to our families for supporting another one of our P&C run stalls! It was a great success and helps raise much needed funds for upgrades throughout the school.
A massive thank you to Hannah for organising such a fun and interactive stall.
Another huge shoutout to our volunteers who helped over the two days! Bonnie, Sam, Naoko, Chloe and Bec.
Warmest Regards
